Thousands of AI companies are focusing their attention on conversational AI that can understand human language and respond in a human-like manner. According to Noam Chomsky, conversational AI is critical to understanding human language, because language is unique to human intelligence.
Most conversational AI solutions today, labeled as conversational agents, chat bots, and virtual personal assistants, are targeting AI and robotics applications. Virtual personal assistants such as Siri, Google Now, 24me and Speaktoit are currently on top, and are helpful to smartphone users with question answering tasks.
AIBrain’s focus has been building true human-like AI that involves holistic episodic reasoning in an incremental fashion. This is much more than simple semantic reasoning. Tyche, an AI companion robot, is our first showcase in this direction. Currently Tyche can converse at the beginner’s level of Cambridge English with 93% accuracy. Tyche’s episodic memory is embedded in what’s called a Memory Graph. It supports incremental learning by reasoning about the world, and organizes this knowledge for future use.
